The MSc in Economics is a one year graduate programme addressed to students with a background in Economics or Business who want to acquire advanced training to become specialists in certain fields or to pursue PhD studies at a later stage. The programme consists of a number of core courses on economic theory and quantitative methods, specialization electives with a clear emphasis on practical, real-world issues, and a final Master thesis. Knowledge of Spanish is essential.

The fields of specialization that will be offered in 2012-13 are:
- International Markets - aimed at training professionals in International Finance and Business;
- Industrial Organization - aimed at training market analists and professionals in managerial positions at private firms;
- Research in Economics -addressed to those who want to pursue further postgraduate studies in Economics.

The specializations of International Markets and Industrial Organization include practical training at private firms and/or public institutions. Some financial aid and grants are also available on a competitive basis, with priority being given to those in the Research specilization who want to go on with PhD studies.

Universitat Rovira i Virgili is a fast-growing public university in the province of Tarragona (Spain) and the Master in Economics is taught at its campus in Reus -a middle size city, an hour and a half south of Barcelona and 15 km away from the coast.
